Present Tense is a ghost bar on demand, delivering craft cocktails and bar snacks to the thirsty people of Chicago.

Present Tense was created by Derek Mercer, a former bar manager at Blackbird, after the 2020 stay at home. After joking with his wife that he was her personal kitchen and bar manager while she continued to work very hard from home, the reality of being about to continue to provide a service he loved started to become a reality. He made and distributed at home cocktail and snack kits, delivering a bit of the hospitality he was known for.

As our city has opened, Derek has continued the at-home cocktail offerings and has been adding events and classes to his offerings. We’re excited to be bringing a Wine Tasting with Present Tense to withlove on March 24th. Grab your tickets to attend this intimate class and expand your wine knowledge a little bit more.

About the event:

The blind wine tasting game is a super fun, challenging, and engaging wine drinking activity. We play it all the time in restaurants. It can also be intimidating. No worries though! We will guide you through the process and have some laughs and snacks along the way. We'll taste and analyze 2 'control' wines, then we'll blind taste 2 wines as a group and see if we can figure out what grape they are and where they are from. Here's a clue, they're all white wines. Now, let's play the blind wine tasting game!
